Imagine: To be able to travel the world, doing what you love, and making a decent living at the same time, WITHOUT A BOSS! This is a monumental accomplishment in my life and I hope you guys can realize that if you really put your mind and heart into your passion, YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING. I can officially say that I make a good living playing piano.
There was so much I learned through this experience and I realized how important it is to for people to travel, see the world, and meet people who are living different lifestyles.
Couchsurfing became one of the best ways for me to meet people on this trip, although, I did meet so many people on the streets while playing piano. The piano is such an incredible ice breaker, it needs no introduction, which allows me to instantly make friends everywhere I go.
I have a huge list of the things I learned and what I could do better on the next trip.
It’s funny, getting paid to do what you love sort of feels like I’m cheating at life.
Day 30: Just finished a 3 hour set for the brunch crowd at Legends in Lake George.
The owners of this place are really awesome. They really care about the experience their customers are having and they definitely put that extra attention even if it costs them a little bit more.
Come to Lake George and eat at Legends because the guys who own it are really inspiring, hard working people.
….making my way back home. Slowly.
A funny little quote that some guy said to me yesterday in Lake George.
I told him that I like playing jazz and classical but everyone keeps requesting Billy Joel and Elton John so I started learning some of those songs.
Did a 3 hour gig at Legends in Lake George.
Tomorrow I’m doing the brunch as well from 9 AM to 1 PM. Hope to see you there.
Afterwards I will head to Saratoga Springs and then back to New York City.
What a journey! Amazing!
Day 29: (Aug 17)
We spent most of yesterday hanging about, practicing, doing some errands on the computer and cleaning the car.
Im pretty excited to get home and start working on creating a new show.
Later on that night I had my 4 hour gig at Legends. I met this guy who plays guitar and we jammed on a few songs. It was a great time. His name is, Mikey and he is also a vocalist. He asked me if I needed a place to crash and let me sleep in a bed at his grandparents house.
We really connected when talking about music, Jazz, and Miles Davis. Music is his life and he is pursuing a career as a musician. He was really inspired by my travels and I was inspired by his abilities On the guitar.
I think I’m going to head home tomorrow…
Played In front of this restaurant called Legends for 2 hours in Lake George.
So yesterday I met the owner of this place while playing on the street and he asked me if I want to play for his restaurant and I said sure.
I have 2 nights of gigs and 1 morning gig lined up for the next 3 days. Talk about being in the right place, at the right time.
I made $120 today playing outside the restaurant.
Day 28:
I woke up this morning at 8 AM and hit up the Tongue Mountain Range Trail for 2 hours. It was a beautiful hike and a great work out.
Right now I’m sitting around at a Coffee shop, writing and reading.
I’m waiting to hear back from the guy I met yesterday who offered me a restaurant gig for Friday. This could be a great opportunity.
Aside from that, I’m very excited to get home so I can start working on some new material and prepare for my next big Journey.
I met 3 Hang Gliding instructors last week who really inspired me to go Hang gliding. I was ready to commit, even for $120, but I rushed to leave Toronto.
This is one of my biggest problems. I am impatient when it comes to making decisions on what to do next. If only I saw the message he sent me, I would have been soaring through air!
A good lesson to be learned:
Be Patient, evaluate your options, and when it doubt, wait it out! Good things are waiting to happen.
